Thinking about the different worlds of words and money occupies a lot of my cognitive surplus. So I’m going to add writing about that stuff to the list of things to do before I die…
In all seriousness, though, the phrase ‘Cognitive Surplus’ was coined by Clay Shirky; it basically states that we are in a position to help others because, in our post-industrial age, we now have excess brain-power. Today, we use that for posting to Youtube, Lolcats, Pinterest, and our own blogs… My company was founded to take that idea and really run with it. What do you use your cognitive surplus for? Hopefully it’s for good.
My job is to help you get published (I’m a publishing consultant for chrissakes). Publishing means different things these days, and maybe your expectations are realistic, maybe they aren’t. I believe that a publisher is more than a printer, and you should, too. If you have questions, shoot me an email, I’m here to help if I can. One of the better places to find me is the0therbk[at]gmail[dot]com (and that’s a zero after “the”).
Right on. I wholly agree with this.
